EVENT INFORMATION
Adviser Briefings
We run two workshops involving both experienced and new Advisers and Link Teachers in a relaxed social environment. We will provide a short briefing on the programme together with any changes for the upcoming year, and leave time for networking, and the sharing of experiences. For new advisers in particular, we will provide simple and clear guidance on how to get started, outlining milestones and the help available via skills training workshops for the students (e.g. financial management, effective meetings, presentation skills etc), which the board will organise and conduct.
Marketing & Finance Workshop
This is an interactive workshop covering two key areas of your new business: marketing and financial managment. Experienced business people will give you great ideas on how to market and sell your products and services and will cover the basic financial planning (eg, cash flow, profit margins, share issues, profit/loss statements etc) needed to run the Company Programme.
Deadline for Company Programme Registration
This is the date, set by Young Enterprise’s national office, by which all Company Programme registrations must be received.
El Paseo Trade Fair
Seen by many as one of the highlights of the local YE calendar, the El Paseo fair (Spanish for 'meeting place') is held at Charterhouse School's Great Hall. You will have the opportunity to set up your trade stand to show off your new business. Judges will visit each stand and cash prizes are awarded in a number of categories.
Report Writing and Presentation Skills Workshop
This workshop will brief you on how to present your company in general - and specifically for the area competition which takes place in late March. It will focus on how to produce a Company Report and give a presentation, both with real impact. We also cover how the area competition works.

West Surrey Area Competition
The concluding part of the programme is the annual competition. The majority of area companies participate in the competition. In addition to writing a company report, you will present your company via a trade stand, an interview with judges and make a 5 minute Power-point presentation. There will be prizes for best report, stand and presentation, and the top companies assessed by the judges to be the ‘Most Likely to Succeed’ proceed to the County Final.
Surrey County Final
The top teams from Surrey North, Surrey West and Surrey East compete in the competition final, usually held at the University of Surrey in Guildford.
The winners of the Surrey County Finals will go through to the South East finals and possibly further to the national and international finals!
